All eyes head to Shelbourne Park over the coming weeks as the 2021 Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby takes centre stage, and here at we've delved through the ante-post markets and picked out two selections for the showpiece event in the Emerald Isle.

Deadly Destroyer - 25/1

Karol Ramsbottom's Deadly Destroyer has been a revelation in recent months and the Champion Stakes finalist can show his class once again by bounding to Irish Greyhound Derby glory. Dominant through the early rounds of the Champion Stakes, the son of Droopys Jet was sent off an odds-on favourite for the final, but was unable to land the coveted prize, as he finished fifth to De Machine.

However, some of his performances during that event just showed what a top notch dog he is over four bends, and now returning to the track for the Irish Greyhound Derby the Feb 19 dog can outclass his rivals and win the most sought after silverware in Irish greyhound racing.

Showing blistering early pace during the Champion Stakes, Deadly Destroyer will be hoping that he can get on the bunny from the get-go, and having recorded a time of 29.24 for the 503m during that recent competition, then a repeat of that effort would see him saunter through the competition.

Qualification is key, but if Deadly Destroyer can ping the lids during the event then very few dogs will be able to live with him, so he has to be regarded a really solid betting option for punters.

Singalong Sally - 66/1

Pat Buckley hasn't tasted Irish Greyhound Derby since 2009 when the legendary College Causeway bounded to victory, but he will unleash a strong battalion at this year's event and one that catches the eye at a big price is Singalong Sally.

The daughter of Tullymurry Act has shown some early dash during her career and impressed when reaching the final of the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial 525, where she could only finish last. However, en route to that final she performed with real credit and notched up some excellent displays.

One contender that will benefit from an inside draw, Buckley's bitch will have to keep improving as she faces some top class rivals in this competition, but at 66/1, at the time of writing, she is worthy of a speculative each-way bet.
