A stellar field will line up for the 2016 Laurels at Belle Vue over the next couple of weeks, but while all eyes will be on the likes of Hiya Butt, Ballymac Claus and Oscar Junior at the head of the betting we switch our attentions further down the ante-post odds and can't believe that the Ernie Gaskin-trained Corrin Boyshane is as big as 50/1 with bet365 for what is a wide open event.

He will take his chance in heat five of the opening round of the event and will face a stiff rival in the shape of Pinpoint Den, but he recorded a sublime trial of 27,72 secs last time out at Belle Vue, and had previously finished second in two more races at the venue, which all broke 28 seconds for the 470m trip, so he could well continue his progression and with some firms offering him at 16/1 then the 50/1 is mind-blowingly too big.

Trap six will be key for him during the competition as he tends to stay out wide, but while he can sometimes miss the break he has shown great ability to stay on in his races, and so qualification can be secured in the early rounds, and he can safely make it through his first round, and there will be no 50/1 around following Thursday's first round heats, so while he will need to improve at this high level he could be a huge player at lofty odds.
